Energy Living translates into the architectural work that challenges the conventional scheme of residential buildings in the city.
A cluster of rectangular prisms stands out above the urban fabric of the southeast slope of Medellín. Energy Living is a successful mix of geometric figures that are grouped and give a privileged view of the metropolis. A building where creativity, functionality and aesthetics converge in just proportion.
The building presents the possibility of panoramic views to the south and north of the Aburrá Valley through terraces and windows that allow you to enjoy different scenarios such as the river, the nearby mountains, or the concrete city.
The project which, since 2014, is a reality, was designed by M + GROUP to house 71 apartments with modular and flexible spaces ranging between 53 and 130 square meters. The total built area is close to 12,000 meters, divided between apartments, common areas, and services.
The complex – destined for luxury residences – has become a successful architectural work, not only for its particular design but also for the appropriate treatment of aesthetic, economic and market issues. The building responded to its target audience, attacking a specific niche and responding to current market standards.
- A referent in Medellín’s architecture.
- 80% monthly occupancy.
- More than 1,300 mentions on Instagram during 2019.
- 100% units sold at the end of construction.
Important publications in national and international media recognize Energy Living as an icon of architecture. Among them are The Traveler Magazine (Korea), Grattacieli Magazine (Italy), the world’s most famous architecture blog ArchDaily and AXXIS Magazine (Colombia). In addition, it won an award in 2017 at the LADI awards, cataloged as the Oscars of architecture, for the best vertical housing project in Latin America.
“Energy Living is based on a request to make a different building in several ways; not only in the formal aspect (image and volumetry) but also in its way of inhabiting it. The exploration consists in getting out of the parameters that have been given in the traditional constructions of the city. We analyze the product’s target very well and based on the results, we design a very specific building,” said Kevin Garcia, project architect.
